DIY Recycled Book Into Floating Shelf Video Tutorial. I normally don’t post DIY videos, but this one from Home Depot here is really good and short (and yes, I follow them on Bloglovin too). *You can also stack books which would look cool.

“In less than four minutes you’ll know all about what type of book to choose for the project, how to glue the pages together, how to attach the hidden bracket and how to properly drill the bracket (and book) into the wall.”

DIY Book Clutch

need-want-love:

this post has been a long time coming, it’s about my attempts at making book clutches. back in april I bought two hardcover books for 50 cents each with the full intent on turning them into clutches. I had found a few DIY tutorials but I couldn’t decide which method I wanted to use. so I combined a few steps from the ones I liked and added few of my own ideas too.

for the red book, book 1, I used this tutorial. I used a magnetic clasps because I couldn’t find one that looked like the one in the tutorial. overall, it was quite labour intensive to cut out all the pages. also my book’s spine fell off but that was just due to its age. there was a lot of effort put into this one as you had to wait for the glue to fully dry but I like the way it turned out.

for the green book, book 2, I used this video tutorial. I added the a border to keep the shape and create illusion that it was still a book. I found this method a lot easier, I think I finished it within a day or so. but again there was some time spent on waiting for the glue to dry. I still need to add a clasp or a latch or something to keep the book closed.also, it’s much lighter than the other clutch because it’s empty of all the pages. I’m thinking about adding a chain but I’m still not sure yet.

but there you go, summer time crafts are in full swing. I have tonnes of ideas and material just laying about in my room, hopefully they’ll be put to good use soon.

Salt Glitter
Mix 1/4 cup of salt with a 1/2 teaspoon of food coloring in a small bowl until the salt is uniformly colored. Spread the mixture out in an even layer on a foil-lined baking sheet. Bake in the oven for ten minutes. Allow your homemade glitter to cool before using it or storing it. And that’s it!:)
